The truth of shadows

Our eyes are our primary means of perceiving the world however, we have other senses that help us to understand and interpret the universe around us. Our eyes send information to our brains about what is in front of them. But our minds interpret the information our eyes send them this process is called vision. Our vision has two components: light and dark. Light has a distinct wavelength range and is associated with the concept of color. Darkness, or shadow, is what occurs when a light source is not present  it is the absence of light. Our vision is based on comprehending and interpreting the darkness we perceive.

Many people believe that the darkness they see when looking in a mirror is identical to the darkness they see when looking at the night sky. They think that what they see without their eyes closed is what they see without them open. However, this belief is not true. What we see with our eyes is not necessarily what we see with our mind. Our minds interpret the darkness in many ways based on our thoughts and emotions. Our vision determines how we interact with the world around us- it does not dictate how we interact with ourselves.

Our vision determines how we interpret the darkness around us based on our emotions and thoughts. We interpret the darkness as either an obstacle or a safe haven. When walking in a dimly lit area, we feel less vulnerable because we cannot make out as much detail as we can when in direct light. However, our interpretation of darkness can also be negative; it can make us feel fearful or even guilty when looking at a person's shadow or silhouette. Our mind interprets this darkness as a person's identity based on how it makes him feel. Consequently, shadows are never just blackness; they are something that can either comfort or discomfort us based on his identity to us since he appears in it.

Our sight gives us information about what is behind objects; this concept is known as shadow projection. If you look at a person's silhouette without also looking at the person himself, you will see only the person's own body but no face or eyes. This phenomenon is known as your shadow; it is what occurs when a light source is not present- like "our eyes" . Your shadow exists because your eye has no shadow when you look through a telescope- something that Galileo saw during his experiment with shadows decades ago . Your vision gives you information about your own shadow since it interprets an absence of light into an existence- thus making your shadow an extension of yourself .

Our sight allows us to interpret what lies in darkness into something tangible- thus allowing us to understand and interpret ourselves and the surrounding world around us. Since shadows are projections of ourselves, bad or positive, our sight allows us to understand ourselves through understanding how we appear to others through projections of ourselves. No one ever sees their own shadow without also seeing the person standing behind them- thus making it impossible to understand oneself without understanding one's place in relation to someone else at all times .  *This article is a very personal opinion*
